Why does my score change?

The score is live. Expectations develop during the day, and new or edited meals and device readings add information. Missing data is not treated as a finished day. A change can reflect the time or a more complete picture, rather than a sudden change in your health.

Three parts of life. One connected picture.

Nutrition

Calories, protein, food-derived fibre, discretionary foods and alcohol all help tell the story. Alcohol never increases nutrition credit.

Exercise

Today’s activity is read against recent days, with room for a quieter rest day. Extra movement past a point does not keep adding today’s quality.

Recovery

Last night’s sleep duration matters most. Short sleep is treated more sharply than a longer night, and recent nights add context.

A useful score understands context.

Your morning is not your whole day.

Expectations develop as the day unfolds. A morning food log is not judged as a completed evening, and late-arriving device data can change the picture.

More is not always better.

Extra movement does not earn unlimited credit. Very low intake or very short sleep can limit an otherwise strong overall result.

A missing reading is not a bad day.

The score considers both the behaviour recorded and how much information is available. Incomplete information is shown as something to resolve.

Support that puts you first.

The score stays off by default during pregnancy, with an eating-disorder history, and for other higher-risk groups where scoring may be unsuitable. No qualifying observations? No numeric score.

The American Heart Association’s Life’s Essential 8 includes diet, activity and sleep within a broader health framework. It supports considering these behaviours together; it does not validate the Healthier Score itself.
